Privacy Policy

VirtuaScan is a 3D scanning app that turns photos of real-world objects and environments into 3D models. This policy explains what data the app collects, where it goes, and how it is used.

1. What we collect

VirtuaScan collects the minimum data necessary to operate:

• Camera photos and depth data — captured during a scan session and stored entirely on your device. VirtuaScan never uploads your photos to any server unless you explicitly request an FBX export (see Section 3).
• Purchase receipts — when you purchase an in-app product (FBX export), Apple's StoreKit framework generates a transaction receipt. This receipt is sent to our backend solely to verify the purchase before processing your conversion. It contains no personal information beyond proof of purchase.
• Crash reports — if the app crashes, Apple's MetricKit framework may send diagnostic crash data to Apple and surface it to us via App Store Connect. This data is anonymous and used only to fix bugs.

2. What stays on your device

All 3D reconstruction (photogrammetry) runs entirely on your iPhone. Your photos, 3D models, USDZ files, and OBJ files never leave your device. You choose where to share them via the iOS share sheet.

3. FBX export and our backend

FBX export is an optional paid feature. When you request an FBX export:

• Your USDZ file is uploaded over HTTPS to our conversion server (hosted on Fly.io).
• The server converts the file to FBX using Blender and returns it to your device.
• The USDZ file is deleted from the server immediately after conversion is complete. We do not retain copies of your 3D models.
• The conversion server is authenticated with a shared secret — no user account or personal data is required.

4. Third-party services

• Apple StoreKit — handles all payments. We never see or store your payment card details.
• Fly.io — hosts the FBX conversion server. Fly.io's privacy policy is at fly.io/legal/privacy-policy.
• Cloudflare — our backend traffic passes through Cloudflare. Cloudflare's privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or any tracking technology.

5. Children

VirtuaScan is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

6. Your rights

Because virtually all data stays on your device, you control it directly through iOS. To delete all scan data, use the "Delete All Captures" option in the app's Settings screen. To delete the app and all associated data, delete the app from your iPhone in the standard iOS way.

7. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
